MEDIA COLLECTION
 

There are over 25,000 Slide photographs, including negatives, Rare and valuable photos of Palau and Micronesia from the 18th century to the present document historic events, village life, traditional practices, important personalities, and today’s Palau.

Since year 2003, BNM media has digitized over 109,000 images, 512 hours of video, and over 2,130 tracks of audio in the collection. Digitized audio collection also includes the 1979 Palau Constitutional Convention.

Peter Holm, a volunteer from New Zealand has been with the Belau National Museum since November 2006. His professional background as an archivist and avid music producer has helped the BNM Media section to accomplish one of its main objectives, digitization of audio collection in the BNM Media collection.

Masayo Shibusawa, a volunteer from Japan of Japanese Overseas Corporation Volunteer (JOCV), has been working at the Belau National Museum since January of 2007. She has devoted much of her time working at the BNM Media Collection digitizing images of Palau during the Japanese time and translating captions in the Japanese images collection into English.
